platters of food on a table

Feast Like Royalty at Chilli Barn

If you’re planning a celebration, you don’t need us to tell you that food will play a key part in your guests’ overall experience and enjoyment. Or that it can make an event memorable for all the right (or wrong) reasons.

After all, food brings people together and creates a focal point for conversation and interaction. And the kind of meal served also reflects the hosts’ personalities and sets the tone for the overall style of the occasion, whether that’s informal, elegant or anything else. Food either elevates the mood at an event or, potentially, can lower it.

It’s also a sensory experience involving taste, sent and presentation. Gorgeously presented dishes, along with a highly professional service, enhance the overall atmosphere. So it’s no exaggeration to say food can make or break your and your guests’ day.

Finally, unlike many other aspects of your day, the catering directly impacts guests. It will affect them in a way that, say, your colour scheme won’t. So it will be a high priority on your planning list.

Food and drink at our West Yorkshire wedding venue

Our unique, beautifully restored venue, Chilli Barn, lies on the edge of Otley Chevin Forest Park overlooking dramatic Yorkshire landscapes, and makes a unique, intimate setting for boutique weddings and other special occasions. It’s bright and airy and combines rural charm with modern touches to create a space for your event that’s bursting with personality.

Mouthwatering menus at Chilli Barn

For all the reasons listed above, food and drink is hugely important to us at Chilli Barn. Our menus offer a wide range of delicious vegetarian and vegan choices – although we do cater for carnivores with our hearty meat pies as a main-course option as part of our three-course plated offering. We have many gluten-free options and carefully cater for any guests with food allergies. All food is freshly prepared on-site by our own chefs.

  • Canapés

Choose five options from our list of hot or cold canapés. Take your pick from the likes of fried halloumi with honey and sesame seeds, vegetable samosas or Thai sweetcorn cake and sweet chilli on the ‘hot list’. Cold options include beetroot and goat’s cheese crostini, falafel and hummus or a soft taco with sweet potato and guacamole.

  • Your Wedding Breakfast

Want an elegant three-course plated meal for a more formal wedding breakfast? We give you two brilliant choices to offer your guests.

For starters, you could enjoy seasonal soup, frittata, vegetable tart with fennel jam and watercress, a mushroom and herb pate or a kale and onion bhaji.

When it comes to the main event, tuck into dishes like butternut squash, ricotta and spinach lasagne, fragrant Keralan spiced coconut vegetable curry and rice or a squash, baby aubergine and lentil tagine, complete with toasted almonds, apricot couscous and pomegranate.

Meat eaters who fancy a hearty pie can enjoy ours with deliciously creamy mash and seasonal veg and gravy. Choose from free range chicken, leek, beef and ale fillings; plus there are vegetarian and vegan options.

Finish with one of our decadent desserts. Go for our indulgent chocolate brownie, fruit crumble, chocolate or lemon posset or dark choc and salted caramel tart, among other sweet options.

We also offer a two-course family-style sharing menu with traditional English, tasty Mediterranean and spicy Indian options available, along with a special menu for children. The sharing menus can also be served informally as a buffet.

  • Evening options

Our party food buffet makes for the perfect evening treat for your daytime guests and any extra guests you’ve  invited to the evening party

Choose from our Mediterranean-style Gyros feast of deep fried halloumi wrapped in a flatbread with tzatziki, roasted sweet peppers and aubergine with chips and salads. Then there’s our Taco Bar or Cheese Board Feast and, finally, our Burger Bar with halloumi, portobello mushroom sweet-potato patties plus all the trimmings.

  • Street food

Our Street Food menu offers potato wedges, comforting Madras curry and rice and veg or pork pies with accompaniments. Our final street food option is a tomato, mascarpone and mozzarella rigatoni bake with salad and sourdough bread. And if you’d like something completely different, you can hire in a festival-style food truck.

  • Drinks packages

We offer various complementary drinks packages, including, for example, our wedding deal where each guest enjoys two glasses of wine with the meal plus a flute of fizz at the drinks reception and another to help toast the happy couple. You could choose refreshing summer cocktail/mocktail for your guests or a heart-warming hygge mulled wine in the winter months – or let them choose with drinks tokens. A full and exciting range of alcohol-free drinks is also available, both for complimentary service and on the bar.
